The “Folia Cardiologica” journal, a continuation of the “Folia Cardiologica Excerpta” journal, is a scientific and educational bimonthly targeted at a wide audience of both young and experienced cardiologists and internists, cardiology fellows, and medical students interested in cardiology. The journal publishes original clinical and experimental papers, interesting reviews of an educational nature, and case reports. The “Young Cardiology” section presents interesting original papers, the first author of which is younger than 35 years of age, published along with a biographical note of the author.
A new section entitled “Guidelines and Clinical Practice — a Discussion Forum for Cardiologists” presents difficult and debatable clinical cases encountered in everyday practice, reporting the diagnostic and therapeutic process and providing a platform for the exchange of views. Some papers are commented by prominent Polish clinicians who are experts in a given area. The “Cardiology Investigations” section reports on both established, well-known cardiovascular diagnostic tests and procedures and promising novel methods that still require their role and usefulness in cardiology to be determined.
Readers of the “Folia Cardiologica” may also rapidly familiarize themselves with news in cardiology reported in the “Evidence-Based Medicine — What’s New?” and “Current Literature Review” sections. The journal is indexed (still as “Folia Cardiologica Excerpta”) in the Index Copernicus database (3.46 points) and included in the journal database of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (4 points in 2013) and the Polish Medical Bibliography [Polska Bibliografia Lekarska] database.
